Services we provide
At Respire Physiotherapy, we provide high quality respiratory physiotherapy for individuals with chronic lung conditions across the ACT and surrounding regions.
We work closely with specialist to ensure collaborative and integrated care.
Your physiotherapist will complete a detailed assessment of your condition, needs and goals to create a tailored program that is right for you. Individuals using oxygen can be supported.
Airway Clearance
Airway clearance techniques are simple exercises and devices that help move mucus (phlegm) out of your lungs. They make breathing easier and reduce the change of chest infections.
If you have a chronic lung condition like COPD, bronchiectasis, or cystic fibrosis, mucus can build up and make breathing harder. Your physiotherapist may recommend different techniques or devices to help you manage this on your own.
Each plan is tailored to your lungs, your comfort, and your daily routine.
Inspiratory Muscle Training
Inspiratory Muscle Training uses a small handheld device to strengthen the muscles used to breathe in. Like strength training for your lungs, it can, improve breathlessness, increase breathing strength and reduce fatigue during daily activities.
Your physiotherapist will assess your needs and guide you through the right technique.
Individualised exercise
An individualised exercise program is a tailored plan designed by your physiotherapist to suit your specific health needs, goals, and lifestyle.
They may include walking, strength exercises, breathing techniques, or balance training. Your program is regularly reviewed and adjusted as you progress, ensuring it stays safe and effective.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a personalised 6–8 week program of exercise, education, and support for people with chronic lung conditions.
It helps you breathe easier, build strength, and gain confidence to stay active and manage your symptoms.
At Respire Physiotherapy, we offer a digitally enhanced version of this program—giving you more flexibility to fit rehab into your lifestyle.
Acute or Chronic lung conditions with symptoms of shortness of breath, increase phlegm production and cough, benefit from respiratory physiotherapy techniques. Respiratory physiotherapy may also be known as chest physiotherapy.
Common conditions the benefit from respiratory physiotherapy include;
Bronchiectasis
COPD
Asthma
Lung Cancer
Pulmonary Fibrosis
Asbestosis
Interstitial Lung Disease
Long Covid
